Plans unveiled to expand Manchester city centre

Plans to extend the boundary of Manchester city centre and construct up to 55,000 new homes have been broadly welcomed by LPC Living.

The proposals, announced today by Manchester City Council, would see the city’s boundaries expand northwards in an effort to accommodate a predicted rise in the city’s population of 55,000. It is anticipated the first 3,000 homes could be completed by 2016 and a further 13,000 by 2019.

The homes would be constructed around Piccaddily and Victoria railway stations with the investment expected to create new employment and training opportunities.

Simon Ashdown at LPC Living, a company owned by the Pervaiz Naviede Family Trust, commented “While these are ambitious plans we applaud Manchester city council for their forward thinking approach in tackling the forecast increase in the number of people coming to live in the city”.

LPC has previously completed a number of projects in partnership with the local authority including The Apple Building in the Northern Quarter and Lakeside in Blackley, north Manchester.
