Dubai Creek Harbour: A new “city” in Dubai

One of the main roads through the United Arab Emirates – the E44 or ‘Ras Al Khor Road’ – is receiving a makeover with a new boulevard taking shape not far from Dubai’s mangrove forest at the head of its iconic creek.

New signage being installed this month identifies the project as “Dubai Creek Harbour”. Newly-planted date palms line both sides of the road and cranes, trucks and earth-movers, conspicuously absent from the site for a number of years, can be once again seen on site.

Groundwork is now in overdrive where a stalled project called The Lagoons was planned to be built, however, only scant details were ever released to the public.

A representative of Dermarr Real Estate Brokers a company which looks after the interests of the Pervaiz Naviede Family Trust in Dubai said, “This indicates that Dubai is back on the master-planned mega-projects trail.”

Emaar’s June announcement made through the Dubai Financial Market stated that Dubai Creek Harbour will have “a central business district and a mix of cultural, commercial, technology, educational, healthcare, sporting, entertainment, shopping malls and residential uses, all designed around a series of lagoons and green boulevards.”
