Dermarr Real Estate Brokers back Dubai Creek as a World Heritage Site

Proposal to have Dubai Creek acknowledged as a World Heritage site have been put before a UN committee with plans now being made to carry out a formal site study next month.

The man leading the campaign, Rashad Bukhash, director of the Architectural Heritage department at Dubai Municipality said “In the words of the late Sheikh Zayed, Father of the UAE, those who have no past can have no present or future”.

The first recorded reference to Dubai dates back to 1587 when the Venetian pearl merchant Gaspero Balbi visited the area and wrote of the area’s pearling industry. The earliest known description of Dubai Creek is found in an 1822 report by a British Royal Navy officer with some evidence suggesting the creek’s position helped establish the city as a trading port.

A spokesman for Dermarr Real Estate Brokers LLC, a representative company for the Pervaiz Naviede Family Trust and owners of the Royal Club Dubai Brand, said, “Dubai has a rich and diverse history and we are happy to be backing its proposal for Dubai Creek to be recognised as the beginnings of what modern Dubai is today.”
